50 million followers and fans. His words matter. Yet LA Lakers, LeBron James has decided to address a situation that has yet to be investigated and post his opinion of an expected outcome in a police shooting of a young black woman in Columbus, Ohio. Today's rant is not about the specific issue of the shooting. It's about the lack of voices coming out about LeBron's comments. I've said it before and I'm going to say it again, quoting Dr. Martin Luther King. “Our lives begin to end, the day we remain silent about things that matter.” Where are the voices of reason suggesting to wait? Steve Kerr, Greg Popovich, Stan Van Gundy have all been vocal about social issues. Crickets. Where is the NBA? Silence. Isn't this irresponsible on LeBron's part? No backlash for LeBron's comments? What if a popular columnist or TV/Radio show host were to do something similar with far fewer fans? Do you think this is OK?
